General information TEFAF Oncology Chair

In 2005 the Board of the TEFAF decided to support medical cancer research by appointing a personal chair in the field of Oncology at the University Hospital Maastricht (azM) and the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences. The visiting (international) professor will stimulate both the current medical research and training of doctors and researchers, as well as broaden knowledge and skills, also in the Euregion Meuse-Rhine. The visiting professor will function within GROW - School for Oncology and Developmental Biology.

There are new fields in which the further development of medical techniques and expertise is more pressing than in the field of Oncology. Therefore, the Board of Management of University Hospital Maastricht and the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences are especially grateful to TEFAF Maastricht for its initiative to support medical cancer research.

The TEFAF Oncology Chair is initially installed for the duration of five years with possible prolongation.

Composition of the Supervisory Council

  • Scientific Director of GROW
  • Dean of the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences Maastricht University
  • President of the Board of Directors of University Hospital Maastricht
  • Former governor of the "Provincie Limburg" (Baron van Voorst tot Voorst)

The Supervisory Council has been formed to guide the selection procedure for this TEFAF Oncology chair and to perform an evaluation on a yearly basis.
