General information TEFAF Oncology Chair
There are new fields in which the further development of medical techniques and expertise is more pressing than in the field of Oncology. Therefore, the Board of Management of University Hospital Maastricht and the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences are especially grateful to TEFAF Maastricht for its initiative to support medical cancer research.
The TEFAF Oncology Chair is initially installed for the duration of five years with possible prolongation.
Composition of the Supervisory Council

- Dean of the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences Maastricht University
- President of the Board of Directors of University Hospital Maastricht
- Former governor of the "Provincie Limburg" (Baron van Voorst tot Voorst)
The Supervisory Council has been formed to guide the selection procedure for this TEFAF Oncology chair and to perform an evaluation on a yearly basis.

Inaugural lecture TEFAF Oncology Chair 2011 - Prof. Sir David Lane
Prof. Sir David Lane, FRS, FRSE, FMedScie, has been appointed as Extraordinary Professor to the TEFAF Oncology Chair within the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences.
He will accept this position by delivering an inaugural lecture on Thursday, March 24th, 2011 at 16.30 precisely, in the Aula of the Maastricht University, Minderbroedersberg 4-6, Maastricht
The title of the lecture is: "The origins, evolution and functions of p53"
Afterwards there will be a reception.

The first TEFAF visiting professor (2005-2006) was Prof. James G. Herman, MD, PhD (Johns Hopkins, Baltimore, USA).
The second TEFAF visiting professor (2007-2008) was Prof. Robert J. Gillies (Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, USA).
The third TEFAF visiting professor (2009) was Prof. Catherine Verfaillie (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium).
